The unintended expatriate blogger behind Mild Forest Zone

Hi there, I'm Alejandro
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter living abroad.
How It Originated
Moving to Spain wasn’t part of the plan I had in mind for the future. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly grew into something far bigger.
The first months were demanding — new systems, new habits, new expectations. Everyday chores felt more complicated than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Mild Forest Zone
The bulk of online information leaned toward corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated only when a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- Not a platform for sponsored reviews
- Not just another generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Alejandro
